You can try FNAC. It is a giant electronics store in France. Below I put the link to the films for children and youth. I am assuming you know enough French to get around the site. If you are not in Europe, you will possibly need to make sure that your DVD player can read European discs.

You probably want an online course which includes some grammar and flash cards in addition to just audio. Visual learning aids are very effective.

I think the most important thing is choosing the right kind of course. Audio courses can be a great way to learn the French language, but you must choose the right one which has all the correct qualities.

I’d also recommend watching French language films and listening to French music!

Podcast-wise I would recommend Coffee Break French, Classic French Fairy Tales and Katia and Kylie Mac Learn French.

There is a program called French in Action, which can be found online at http://www.learner.org.

Check out what your local library has both in the Adult Non-fiction and the Juvenille Non-fiction. With the Dewey Decimal system, French is under the code 448. Check if your library has Kits (books that come with either audio tapes or CDs).

You should do four things when trying to learn a new language: read it, write it, listen to it, and speak it. Music, French movies or movies that are dubbed in French.

Depending on her age, I can definitely recommend poisson rouge (www.poissonrouge.com) as an excellent gaming (but really educational site). This is aimed at children aged 7 and below really.
For older children I have used http://www.digitaldialects.com/French.htm and the BBC French areas in Bytesize and language.
If you ask your child’s school they should be able to recommend something.

It is . But you have to remember that F.I. means that they are learning french and not bilingual yet. This is especially true in the primary years.

French immersion in Kingston Ontario is great, same for Victoria BC. I guess it all depends on where you are and what school you go.
We had no problem at all. But, you do have some responsabilities as a parent to keep practicing french at home.

Ca va bien aller, tu vas voir. Pire des cas, si tu aime pas ca tu change d’ecole. Et si tu est relocaliser a cause d’une job au gouvernement, c’est facile pour toi d’aller chercher des references sur les ecole du coin.

Try simple bilingual French games and kids word books. Flash cards are good too. That way you will learn the French at the same time as your kids. As well you need some audio CDs so you get the pronunciation right. There are lots of French games and bilingual books out there. Once you get to France your kids will learn so fast, you will struggle to keep up!

You don’t say how old they are, but assuming they’re still pretty young, well under 10, then I wouldn’t worry too much about it. As soon as you move there, and they start going to school, they’ll start absorbing French like sponges – much faster than you, anyway!
Having said that, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t buy a few cassettes of simple songs and conversations, and ALL of you start learning some simple vocabulary and greetings. But really, don’t worry too much.
